Last night was the Liar's Contest sponsored by the Houston Storytelling Guild. Located at the Houston Baptist University, eight storytellers vied for the prize as champion liar. The winner was Larry Thompson, telling El Pollo Gallero. Second place went to Scott Bumgardner with Putting the Bite on Crine (Have you ever heard of a crime gator?) and third place went to Linds Befeld with her story about Billy Bob Bissonnet. I told the story The Scottish Play about theatre superstitution. While I did not win anything, I enjoyed telling and got a good response to my story.
The other event, the Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival, had to close early because of the weather and I was not able to tell my stories. But watch for the opportunity to see me tell again.
I will be hearing some storytelling this week as part of the Texas Library Assoc. convention. On Thursday night at 7:30, at the Hilton Hotel next to the George R Brown Convention Center, there will be a night of storytelling featuring Willie Caflin. Don't miss the opportunity to hear Maynard Moose. :-)
Have a blessed week. May your days be filled with great stories.
